Homework

Homework is set during the day and recorded in homework diaries which are a written dialogue between school and home. Parents are expected to initial each day's work on completion and to check and sign at the end of the week. Teachers will inspect and initial each day and check for problems arising from the homework. Any messages can be written in the homework diaries either from teacher to parent/carer or from parent/carer to teacher.

Reception:

Simple reading skills and 'finding out' experiences, up to ten minutes per day.

Year 1:

Ten minutes reading each day and spellings practice. Multiplication tables practice will be introduced in the third term; mathematical and occasional topic based work at the weekends.

Year 2:

Homework includes reading, multiplication tables and spelling practice with subject or topic based work at the weekends.

Year 3:

20 minutes duration, daily, to include Maths, English and reading.

Year 4:

30 minutes duration, daily, to include Maths, English and any set research.

Year 5:

40 minutes duration daily, to include Maths, English and specific subjects, i.e. R.E, or Science for example.

Year 6:

40 minutes duration daily, to include Maths, English and specific subjects. Weekend homework will be of a longer duration and could involve any subject.
